Guilty pleasures....

There is nothing more relaxing than a balmy summer evening, sitting out on the deck and flipping through my latest magazines...

Last night at Target I picked up the latest issues of Romantic Country, Romantic Homes, and Garden Gate (as well as some AA batteries and cat food, but they're not as pretty to photograph or as interesting to write about!)...

I spread one of my old vintage tablecloths over the patio table, put my sweet basil (for the smell) and impatiens (for the color) on the center of the table...

...and made a cup of iced coffee in one of my favorite oversized mugs.... Now it's time to sit down and pore over these inspiring magazines. So relaxing... So simple... such guilty (not!) pleasures...

  3. Oh wow! I've never seen the magazine Garden Gate. I'm going to have to go see if I can find that. Just that name sounds great.

Your table is so pretty. I love the tablecloth and the mug is darling.

Hope you enjoyed your time to relax.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  4. Now that is a lovely way to start my day---reading your descrptive words and looking at your relaxing photo----of things I also love. If that scene was transformed to my home, I would have Twiggy (the rescued kitty) in the middle of my lap wacking at the pages of the magazine, the dog (Izzie) on the floor trying to open the bag of cat food and my other cat (Frankie) rolling the batteries around on the patio. AH, peace. ;-)

  6. What a perfect evening! Iced coffee and fresh magazines. Thanks for reminding me, I've got TONS of those vintage tablecloths and hardly ever use them, I'm pulling them out this morning in hopes of making it more summery here too!

  10. This is so unfair-everyone has the best magazines but us over here! I have to settle for country living and another 2 or 3 mags that are just trying to be country living! Though I did buy Martha Stewarts Living today and was so disappionted its really gone downhill! Love the mug though.

  11. Hi Donna! I just discovered your blog and am glad I did. Very pretty posts. I just finished my new copy of Romantic Country w/ice coffee too (but my glass wasn't nearly as pretty as that beautiful mug!) I know I will be reading it over and over getting more inspiration since I am in the process of redoing in a more cottage style. I know what you mean about dollar store vendors at flea markets; I feel the ruin treasure hunt since their is a dollar store in every town now! I look forward to visiting you again. Have a nice night - Jeannette
