1960's Vintage Rose Prints...

I've had this set of coordinating rose prints since I switched over to a shabby/cottage decorating style... I remember these hanging in our house when I was a kid. I believe my mom bought them at either a Woolworth's, Grant's, or Mammoth Mart store as those are the only places she shopped at back then... After my mom passed away, I found them down in her basement...
(click any photos to enlarge)

This is the largest of the three prints, about 8x10. It hangs in a corner of our family room... (By the way, that's the bird lamp my girls bought me as a Christmas present from Urban Outfitters several years ago, which is when I learned that UO carries some really great stuff - see yesterday's post)....

The vase of roses in this print looks like an actual painting...

... with lush roses...

and spring green leaves...

As I said, my mom got these back in the early 60's and the frames, now being close to 50 years old, have the perfect 'shabby/distressed' look to them....

There are two smaller prints that coordinate with the large one... I have them hanging above the windowseat in the family room...

Now how did mom know, all those years ago, that I would come to love this style of decorating? The fact that they were picked out, by her, so long ago makes them very special to me!
Love you, Mom! I hope you like the way your old prints are displayed...

They are so pretty, and their history makes them extra special.

Some of my pictures don't blend in half as well, but I can't part with them because of the story behind them.

One more reason my decorating style is "eclectic" . . . .

I love artwork from that era and always seek it out in the antique stores... it's getting harder and harder to find nice ones.

Your prints are great, they really do look like paintings. And how cool is it that they have been shabby chic for 40+ years already?

Okay, Donna, I told you earlier that you have given me a great idea for something. Well, I'm giving you the credit and thought you might like to see what it is, honey. It will be on my blog tomorrow for Pink Saturday if you'd care to come over and see what I did, chickee.
xoxo and thank you for "snapping a rubber band" at my head!!!

These are beautiful. They're warm and cheerful. Your Mom had lovely taste. I'm sure she's happy that you're enjoying them as much as she did. This must be where you got your talents. You have that eye Donna, your arrangements and placing them are always spot on.

What I love most, is there is a history, a story, a passion behind every detail.
