"C" is for cushions and Chips

The new cushions are now on the patio set.... (and let me preface this by saying please excuse the mess - the tables need a good scrubbing from winter storage and the patio is in desperate need of sweeping - yet again!)

My first choice was a nice green and white pattern, but the CTS I was at didn't have four in stock (I need 2 for the loveseat and 2 for the chairs), and since I didn't feel like running around to several stores to find 4 that matched...

... I just went with a very bright blue/green/lavender/white stripe. (At least they match the bright plastic tables I got at Wal Mart several years ago! The little waterfall fountain was also from Wal Mart several years ago. I love sitting down there, having the sound of running water in the background.)

The three tiered mosaic plant stand table was also purchased at Christmas Tree Shop several years ago.

This is the patio last year and the cushion set that I loved and was so sorry to have had to toss...

The cushions had green and white seashells on a blue background, and I wish they'd lasted forever!! Even though they were stored in the shed during the winter months, they still got stained and moldy from the occasions where they would get damp in the summer rains (even under the tent cover)... The weather resistant cushions are all $25 and up (at least the ones I've seen), but eventually I may have to break down and go that route so they'll last (rather than the less expensive ones from CTS).

Here's a favorite picture of mine... Hubby feeding one of our Chips out on the patio last year.

And this is me feeding one of our Chips a couple of weeks ago...

The Chips come running whenever they hear or see me working out in the garden because they know I keep peanut treats in my pockets... (excuse the dirty fingernails!)

I love to plant and dig in the dirt without garden gloves. I know I should wear them, and I occasionally do, but I really love the feel of planting and potting with my bare hands. And when I'm done, I set the hose on JET spray and boy, does that gets rid of all the dirt underneath my nails until I go into the house to actually wash my hands with soap and water!

Wishing you all a summer full of your favorite treats!!!!
Donna

  1. I love the color of the chair cushions now and I really like the ones you had last year. Can you cover them? The chipmonk is so cute. I have several that get in my mulch and throw it everywhere.

  2. Oh my gosh I love the one at the end with him in your bag. So cute. Chips are so much more friendly it seems than squirrels. I held one many moons ago. They are very fidgety though.

I like your cushions. Very bright!

  5. Chip is so cute with that peanut in his mouth. How fun is that!

And one of my pet peeves is when I find something I love and the store does not have enough! Ooooh, that's how peeved I get... *giggles

  6. Oh Donna! I know I'm always going to get a big smile when I come to your blog.

Those chips are the sweetest things! I love them and get so excited when you post your photos. They are so darn cute!

I think you new cushions are very pretty. In fact, I think I like them more then the shell ones.

I sure do wish we had one of those CTS by me.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  7. Is that a gazebo your wicker furniture is under? I couldn't tell. I too love to work without gloves. Just like the feel of the dirt in my fingers, I guess. I love your little spot. We all have to have our little spots where we are relaxed and happy.

  9. First, I love your photos of your Chips - I hope mine is around this year. I want to get it to eat out of my hand. I love chipmunks. Your new cushions are fabulous and I like the green blue lavender combination - very summery!

  11. Oh, the chipmunks are adorable! That is so sweet that you feed them! I would probably do the same thing much to the horror of some people I know, LOL!

    Enjoy your new cushions! :)

  12. It drives me CRAZY to find a cushion I like, and then find the store doesn't have enough for a matching set! Lot's of times, I buy cheap, ugly ones, then buy $1 yard fabric and recover them!

  13. The chair cushions are beautiful and if they only last a few years, it's probably better to buy the less expensive ones and just toss when they get old & worn out. That way you can change them more often. I really like the stripes, they go with your little table very well. So cute, also love the awning, ot looks so cozy. The chippys are so cute.....

  14. How cute those chips are, and how fun that they know you carry the peanuts for them. Your cushions are really pretty. I'm not sure that the more expensive cushions hold up much better (maybe a little), but I've tried both and I've about decided to stick with the less expensive ones. Your new cushions look like Summer to me. laurie

  17. Those chippies are so cute! Wow, I can't believe they come right up to you!

Love the new cushions. They look very cheery. The old ones were great too. Too bad they couldn't survive the New England winter.

    Have a great weekend.
