The clematis that covers the arbor over our old garden gate...
... was in full bloom a couple of weeks ago.
Not only does the garden gate have a heart...
The clematis, with the way it cascades down from the arbor, also forms a freestyle heart.
The clematis over the garden gate has always thrived. I wish I could say the same for the clematis I planted on the posts of our swingset garden!
See the little area that's missing a portion of the picket at the bottom of the gate? That's Chip's personal gate, the one that he uses to run back and forth to his little 'home' after collecting his peanuts.
I love the way the heart cutout of the gate showed up in the shadow on the ground in this photo. I truly do "heart" my old weathered (very distressed) gate, my garden, and all the little creatures and birds that visit.
The weather was spectacular here today. It was a nice change from the muggy 90's we've had lately!
Wishing you "hearts" and beautiful summer days wherever you are! I'm hooking up to Cindy's Show & Tell Friday, so be sure to stop by and visit!

oh by the way, i wonder if those clematis grow well on really warm areas...like here in california. they are just lovely!
What a beautiful perfect garden gate and it looks so awesome with the purple clematislimbing over it.
This is an enchanted spot for sure! I'm loving that beautiful clematis on your gate/fence.
Your garden gate and fence are beautiful! The clematis does look pretty growing over it too.
Have a lovely weekend,
Carolyn
I love your garden gate and the ♥ shaped clematis is beautiful I'm a little jealous wishing it was in my backyard!

Donna, that was a LOVELY post. I think the double hearts on the fence----fence plus clematis----are darling.
You have a lovely yard. Susan
I love the garden gate. I have always wanted one. I can just picture your little Chip scooting under the gate to go home. Carla
Love your clematis, my friend. Mine finally bloomed for a short while this year, but I have to think I've got it situated in the wrong part of the yard. I was shocked that there were several blooms after 4 years. But I don't have an arbor so it will have to do where it is.

Awesome how the clematis is growing so well & how it's in a heart shape! I've tried growing clematis and it just dies. How cute that Chip has his own little spot to run under the garden gate. ;-)
Absolutely beautiful. You have such a lovely garden. I'm happy I found your blog today ~ it is so enchanting!

Just found this... a little late! The others have just about said it all, but I wanted to add that the sunshine lighting-up the clematis and filtering through the gate, casting a ♥ shape and long fingers of shadow on the ground is deeply beautiful :-)
