...the crazier she gets!
(photo altered with picMonkey)
This is a photo of Baby sitting on the jelly cupboard, one of her favorite places to hang out. And why not? It's up high so she can look down on poor Mr. J, a floor dweller. It also allows her to oversee the entire living area of the house. But probably most importantly, from this vantage point she can easily watch the action at the screen feeder mounted to the dining room window.
Once upon a time, this little corner of the dining area looked so neat and tidy.
And even after sweet Baby came along, she was always so careful while perched on the corner.
But lately, she's been a wild woman. With reckless abandon, she leaps across the half wall from the family room to the top of the jelly cupboard. Therefore, all breakables have been completely removed. The crocheted runner isn't even safe anymore. I find it on the floor more often than not. If Baby's not around, I attempt to put it back on the jelly cupboard; if she is around, it just gets tossed over the back of one of the dining room chairs.
The bay window decor doesn't escape her shenanigans either. The placemat that sits under the plants is always bunched up due to her leaping down to the window to 'attack' whatever poor creature or bird is at the screen feeder. Just look at her up there, eyes locked on the feeder through the window!
It's the same thing in the living room, where I'm always having to adjust the lampshade on this vintage lamp. Sadly, there used to be two of them. We all know who is responsible for there only being one now.
Two days ago, this was the view outside our window, some lingering snow and frigid temperatures. The snow is long gone now (as temps rose in the 50's and 60's for 2 days!!)...
And something else is gone as well...
The runner that usually sits on the apothecary chest was in a heap on the floor, the calling card of you know who. (I love how Mr. J is on his way over to investigate. Don't worry, Mr. J, I know the culprit!)
It's this little beast, who races from one end of the house to the other, and then leaps!
And just look at this face. Not a shred of guilt!
It's okay, Baby. We know you're just being precocious, curious, and athletic... a trait most younger cats share :) And you're awfully cute, and quite entertaining, so I think we can overlook some of your messy tendencies.
We're bracing for some frigid weather again, I'm afraid. We sure were spoiled by the last two days!
This week I'm joining Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday
and Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage for A Favorite Thing Saturday.

Oh Baby! You are so much like my Percy. About the same age and similar in looks I am convinced you two were separated at birth.
I feel for you Donna. It's the same at my house. Broken teacups, candlesticks, ripped furniture. We don't have a bird feeder outside so no terrorizing any birds. He terrorizes his fellow siblings instead.
Baby is a beauty and has some wild eccentric traits, I can see.
Hi Donna...It HAS been nice, hasn't it? Still not time to ditch the coat that makes me feel like I'm a grizzly bear.
Baby. What are you going to do with her? Nothing. Just enjoy her sweet antics and try to ignore the naughty ones.
She's a real kicker. Susan
It's no secret that most cat owners keep their 'pretty things' safely put away in drawers and only bring them out just before company arrive. That's just the way we must live. :)
"Hi Baby"
Oh Baby, Baby, Baby! You can come to my house and mess it up anytime. How could anyone resist you? xo Diana
In our home, our "Stuffed" ignored the Christmas tree, wreaths, and all the ornaments until two weeks ago when I began to pack them into boxes. What was that black fluffy feather duster sticking out of the ornament box, I wondered. Oh yes, it's just the cat's tail as he was exploring the decorations head-first in a foot-deep carton. But how could you not love him? :)
And the photos of your girls in the frames are lovely. :)
LOL Well we all know it's "her" cottage not yours after all!
She's a beauty and I love all your beautiful photos!
We used to have a cat that if we left any glasses especially with water or something else to drink in them he would take his big ole paw and scoot them promptly to the floor! We learned the hard way not to ever leave glasses anywhere.
And Baby looks like she's worth every bit of effort... to keep HER resting places safe. *ha-ha* She's a sheer beauty!!! Thank you for the pictures of her... her surroundings match her.

XOXOXO
Your Baby is a little doll! We have four kitties (recently down from five) and I did a post sometime back (c. a year ago, I think) about how my house and life had changed since their arrival. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one whose cats display cat-like behavior! But as someone commented: they are worth it. Have a lovely weekend! Bess
She's a lucky cat! We've even put little blankets on top of furniture for cats to look out the windows and nap! Guess you'll never see that in any decorating magazines!! But that's OK!
Oh my! Baby is so pretty and sweet -- you'd think she'd never be up to such shenanigans! Thank goodness my Oliver is more sedate -- but he does love to be on top of the wing back chairs overseeing all!
What a beautiful home you have!
And a very naughty kitty!
Such a pretty kitty! Found you on A Favorite Thing! I would love to have you share this tomorrow on The Creative HomeAcre Hop! Kicking it off on Superbowl Sunday...

Oh, Baby! You are full of life, you little dickens! (My dad's cats are doing the same thing, Donna. They go on tears all over the house and knock things over.)
Thanks so much for joining in this week.
XO

I laughed through this post because I have three cats that are just like Baby! Well, especially my younger two. There's certain places where I can't have any decorations or breakables, and plants? Those are constantly getting knocked over. But our fur babies are so worth it, aren't they?
Baby sure is a pretty cat, and a highly active one. That bird feeder outside must drive her nuts! My Sugar does nuts watching the birds outside drinking at the heated water fountain we made. We got hit today with snow, and more on the way. Stay warm, and entertained by Baby
Baby is a gorgeous kitty! I have lost countless breakabe items through the years due to my highly rambunctuous furry ones... I empathize. But they're just so darned cute you can't stay angry with them for long! :-)
She is a mess, LOL! It's no wonder that more things don't get broken!
Baby is just too cute but having a cat myself I know the limitations of what I can put where. Then there's the dogs ...trying to keep them off the furniture etc. Never ending battle. I have an upside down childs rocking chair on one, and a baby gate on another, when I leave for work. When I come home I see the dogs have pawed the surrounding pillows off onto the floor and managed to fit themselves around the furniture barriers anyway! :)
Oh, but you wouldn't trade her for the world!

Oh! What a pretty kitty your Baby is! Her athletics and antics must bring smiles!
I would say this kitty makes herself at home wherever she pleases.
She is adorable! Thomas (my rescue cat) sends his regards. Jx
she is such a pretty cat, did she not know her picture was to be taken while she shows off her independence about the house.
I love the eyeliner on one of her eyes, it adds so much to her beauty.
thank you for sharing.
xx

OH, this cracked me up...I have such a one....drives me nuts
Bossy about my house and where he can go....EVeRYWHERE
Glad someone else lives this kind of life
...but you gotta love them
What a mischievous little Baby she is! Those pictures are priceless! I love all the tell-tale signs of her having been in a certain place. But she looks so lovable, little wonder she doesn't get in trouble.
And that's why we can never have anything nice!! Our cat, named Entertainment, runs along the plate rail in the dinning room. Plates up there are securely fastened to the wall now.
I just love your cat. My black and white cat decided to swing from my chandelier the other night...don't know what got into him. :)
