The winter sun casting shadows...

Hubby and I were just sitting in the living room watching Property Brothers on HGTV when I glanced toward this corner of our little living room.

If there's one thing I love about the winter sun, which sits so low in the sky, it's the beautiful mid-afternoon shadows cast across the house; in this instance, the pie safe.
(We've decided to keep the ''Christmas' living room arrangement, which means there's a lot more room for Mr. J's doggy bed where the Christmas tree once stood!)

The glass knobs on the pie safe act like prisms, reflecting the sun across the door panels...

... and the sun really accentuates the wreath appliques.

(I'm so glad I was in the right place(s) at the right time(s) to find these two darling white kitties! I just love them. They look so whimsical sitting on the floor below the bay window!)

It looks like someone else is enjoying the winter sunlight on his comfy bed!

Hoping you all had a lovely weekend.

Stop by and share something you love, have tweaked, or want to share!

  1. My kitties never look that alert but then they like to sleep during the day. Now I have only one left and she misses our older cat.

  2. Donna- Don't you love the play of sun and shadows in a room? I am always happiest in a room that has LOTS of sunlight and feels "happy". LOVE your doggy bed- I wouldn't mind sleeping on that myself if I visited...and NO- I do NOT have fleas- xo Diana

  4. I love the late afternoon sun on a chilly winter day. I recently captured a shot when I was writing while laying on our bed. Thank you for sharing. Great shot!

I would love to link your blog to my favorites. Please let me know if that is ok.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

  5. I love it when sun hits glass and it reflects and shines on the wall. (Sometimes I move my hand with my wedding ring on it into the sun just to watch the light bounce around the room. Gosh, I am such a kid at heart.) Your doggie looks so very content on that beautiful bed.

  6. I love seeing shafts of sunlight in a room. By the way, I hauled out Scout's dog bed the other day (the one that is exactly like yours) and she doesn't know what to do with it. I figured I could take it with us when we travel to Hartford on Wednesday. I wonder if she'll use it??

Thanks so much for joining in this week!

  7. Hi Donna, I saw you over at Cindys and thought I would hop over and see what you are up to. Sweet little shaggy doggie. I love shaggy, don't you. No kittys in this post. They must be curled up in the sofa.
