Late afternoon....

The late afternoon sun sits so low during the winter months.

I still haven't moved my studio/office into the 'bigger' bedroom...

... because we've decided to replace our 33 year old drafty windows in all three bedrooms. The windows are over-sized and will need to be special ordered, so I'm not sure exactly when that will happen, but once it does, I'll start moving things to the 'new' room.

I'm sure I'll be moving my heart prism (from my mom & dad) and my thrift store bird wind chimes when I do move.

About 20 years ago we had this bay window put into our dining area.

I can't even imagine this as a solid wall anymore. The window brightens up the dining area so much!

Oh, how I'd miss the view of our little side yard if there wasn't a window.

But boy, oh boy, do the birds make a mess of my windows with the screen feeder attached to the outside of the window. And the sunlight really highlights how dirty they are!

As I snapped these pictures, I wondered where Baby was. Since she's quite the camera hog, she usually tries to get into some of the pictures I take. So where was she?

As it turns out, she was pulling a "Where's Waldo" by keeping an eye on me from behind the half wall that separates the dining area from the family room.

I should have know our little Diva was in close proximity!

This week I'm joining Brenda at Cozy Little House for Tweak It Tuesday
and Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.

We are in for bitterly cold weather over the next few days. Stay warm, everyone!

  1. I have many big windows in my house and love them. Helps my small house feel bigger. I have found the most simple way to clean them--a drop of Dawn dishwashing soap in a bucket of water--no streaks--it is just amazing!

  3. One of the many things that caught my eye about your blog is your beautiful windows and looking forward to seeing what your new ones look like.

We had ours put in over 12 years ago and they were well worth it. They are just plain windows, but the keep the heat in and cold out.

  4. Oh boy, this winter is one for the record books! TIRED of it. I got a glimpse of our windows the other day when the sun was shining through them. Oh my, they are dirty! Good luck on your new windows, I imagine they will make a big difference!

  5. Oh how I wish I had a bad window, what a great view of your yard it provides. I do love watching the birds but they can be messy, I have a thing about clean windows but in weather like it is today, can't do anything! Your baby is adorable!

  10. Our house is about 25 years old and a couple of years ago, we had the windows in two of the bedrooms replaced. We still need to do our bedroom and bathroom, the living room, and kitchen. But...well, as you know, they're expensive! We can only afford to do a little at a time. You won't believe the difference though; these new windows are so air-tight. Your photos are beautiful with the light coming in the windows...

  12. Your pictures, and the story you tell of a bitter winter, are beautiful! I LOVE the picture of Baby peeking in between the statues of the Sacred Heart and the Virgin Mary! Beautiful!
We are cat lovers too. Six of them in residence - most rescued ferals - and ALL camera hogs and window sill watchers like Baby!
