The neutral rug won out....

I have a Pinterest board filled with colorful rugs in an assortment of beautiful designs.

But in the end, this 6' x 6' neutral rug won out over all of them.

I plan to do a gallery wall above the bookcases with the theme being
vintage religious/Catholic decor.

Gallery walls can tend to be busy (and I have a lot to hang)...

... so I didn't want the rug to compete with the artwork on the wall.

It was a tough decision though. There are so many gorgeous rugs out there! To help me decide which rug would look best, I lined up a sampling of the art I'll be hanging in the office and then, one by one, I enlarged my favorite rugs on the computer screen.

(rug color change due to photos taken at night)

I stood back and looked at both the artwork and the rugs at the same time, and that really helped me decide that a neutral rug would definitely work best for what I have in mind. I really liked the simplicity of this one so I ordered it online and had it in less than a week.

A lot of the vintage Catholic pieces I'll be hanging are Polish, like the one above and the two Communion pieces from the grouping of five pieces of art in one of the first photos. My dad was Polish and attended Mass every morning. They remind me so much of him.

And as you can see, Miss Baby immediately made herself right at home on the new rug. A little too much so, as you'll see in these short video clips!

Baby just had to "help us" with rolling out the rug!

I hope the novelty wears off very soon!

I'm joining Brenda at Cozy Little House for Tweak It Tuesday ,

Have a great week, everyone!

I certainly approve your choice of rug :) almost as much as Baby!
I find your artwork delightful. I am not catholic but I do find catholic icons and art work very appealing...looking forward to seeing the finished gallery

I enjoyed hearing how you arrived at your decision. The gallery wall is going to be SO special...Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how you handled the cord for the standing light at the end of your desk!

you have such a beautiful collection...I especially like that one of the home with the stone pathway leading up to it. Now I'll watch Baby the Movie Star...

Hi Donna...I think the rug looks lovely and the Catholic art is great, too.

Ohhhh, loved seeing baby and his antics.

How I miss Honey Cat. I cry every day and it's been two weeks since she died. I am still so heartbroken. It is the hardest thing in the world to lose a beloved pet.

So Donna, please, give Baby extra hugs and scratches behind the ears, will you? Susan

Love your Catholic art and I collect that also. I just sold a fabulous sanctuary candle holder on eBay; that was so hard to let go.The picture of the charming cottage with Jesus floating above it is one of my favorites. The cross stitch is so, so lovely. As is one I've never seen, the Jesus as a child. I'd like to find that one myself. I was laughing throughout the video because that could have been me talking to my cat, Kaiser. I spend most of my time saying, "WHAT are you doing, Kaiser!" But, I never say, you are so clean, I say, "Why are you so dirty?" Love your blog, we have a lot in common.

Pretty rug. It goes nicely with your collection.

Are you sure there was no catnip on that rug?

I love the rug but let's be honest -- Baby steals the show! What a sweetheart and you can't tell me she wasn't playing to the camera!

As much as I love color, I do tend to gravitate toward neutrals when push comes to shove, so I probably would have decided on the same rug.

The art is lovely and I am particularly drawn to the house with the stone path. Wish I lived there :).
