The Gallery Wall...

So last May -yes, 8 months ago -I wrote about the vintage Catholic gallery wall I planned to hang in my studio/office. Well...(hanging head in shame)... this is as far as I've gotten. I'm still arranging pieces before committing to permanent placement on the wall. This is just a tiny selection of some of the smaller pieces that will be intermingled with larger pieces.

And, of course, I now hear that gallery walls may be on the way out. How sad.

I love the eclectic gallery wall in our small split entry foyer.
But if gallery walls are going out of style, should I dismantle it?

NOPE!

I've always loved gallery walls. Heck, I liked them long before they were a "thing."
These photos show my mom and I in front of my apartment gallery wall back in 1979.

In fact, I hung groupings of the pastel chalk pet portraits
I created back then all over my apartment!
(Did anybody else have the "plumes" that were so popular back then?)

So, in any case, I'll continue with my painstakingly slow 'arrangement' process knowing that, in the end, I'll love it, even if gallery walls are "so yesterday" by the time I finish!

I hope you're all staying warm this winter. We've had some pretty cold temps, but VERY little snow here in Massachusetts, and for that I am very grateful!
Until next time, stay warm!

  3. After reading your post, I find out that I have a gallery wall as well! I just did not know it! I do like the vintage artwork. Sometimes by themselves they are not so interesting as when they are displayed with other like pieces.

Winter did not come this year for us in the tiny Northwest corner of the US.

    Have a good weekend.

  5. Hey Donna. Don't talk too soon about not much snow in New England. We are supposed to get "whomped" tomorrow. (I think I made up that word, thus the quotation marks.)

Donna, I have a wedding gallery wall in the dining room. It's all the brides from yesterday (late aunts and uncles), plus my own and my kids and their spouses. I always get rave reviews on it.

    Stay cozy. Susan
