Love is in the air....

This is the view from the dining room window. If you look closely, you can see a wren house hanging from the oak tree branch that extends over the fence... and if you look really closely (easier if you click to enlarge the photo), you can see Mr. Wren, right above the garden angel, checking out the neighborhood...

This is the view from the front yard...It appears that love is in the air, and Mr. & Mrs. Wren have indeed chosen to settle down and raise their family right here in our yard...

For the time being, Mrs. Wren is content to keep the eggs warm while Mr. Wren (seen here in a most unflattering pose) dutifully checks on her to see if she is comfortable... (Do you think she's having any strange cravings?)

Every once in a while Mrs. Wren pokes her head out for a breath of fresh air... Oh, Mrs. Wren, you relax all you can right now because once your little babies break through their shells, you won't have a moment's rest!

Ain't love grand???

  3. Oh so sweet! We have swallows nesting in our boxes!! And they are fun to watch! I have been frantically busy lately...we agreed to be on a garden walk, and what looked good to us, is now having to look even 'gooder' for the walk! :) But glad I took the time to peek at your little friends!

  5. Oh how sweet! I love the photos! You captured such a special relationship in nature rarely seen. I think she's calling out that she wants ver au chocolat! (I don't really know French but wouldn't that be worms with chocolate?)

  6. Thanks for your comment Donna. I would love to see you at my shop some day.I see that we both love our birds!I could spend hours watching them and I always feel special when they choose to nest near my shop.I love my home state of MI, but if I could choose anywhere else to live, it would be MA. I have been to Cape Cod three times and hope to go back soon. And by all means, enter me in your #1 give-a-way. I'm new at blogging and have never entered a give-a-way before.

  8. How cute! I had a wren make a nest in the flower basket that was right above my head on my deck. It would fly within inches of my head and scare the living daylights out of me, and would also fly out whenever I tried to water my plant. They are such pretty little birds, but I hope if it come back this year, it builds its nest somewhere else!

  9. I love watching birds especially when they are building their nests but I've never had the chance to watch them that closely. How wonderful for you.
