A big PINK pop-up Strega Nona!

Tomie dePaola has been one of our favorite children's book authors/illustrators since the girls were very young. (Little did I know when I wrote about him here, that in a few short months we would have the opportunity to listen to him speak and meet him at a signing!!) His books have provided countless hours of entertainment for our family throughout the years.. And now he has a brand new book out, with a shiny pink cover!!!

Brava Strega Nona!, a pop-up book! (Strega Nona is one of his most beloved book characters!)

One of my girls and I went to the bookstore where he was doing a signing today and I was able to get a picture of her with Tomie right before he signed our book!

This book has the most intricate pop-ups... it's just unbelievable the talent that goes into designing them...

The colors are bright and beautiful - and there are LOTS of pinks!!!

(How cute!! A little pop-up book within a big pop-up book!)

Now you should hop like a bunny over to Beverly's How Sweet the Sound to see her PINK Saturday post and to find a list of all the other PINK loving bloggers participating in PINK Saturday!!
(And don't forget to enter my giveaway in this post!)

  6. We love pop-up books at our house. The current favorite is actually Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy. But, I'm thinking this would make a beautiful addition to our pop-up collection.

  14. How wonderful--to meet the author and get a signing!
I'm afraid I am not familiar with him, but that book looks wonderful and I will from now on pay attention to that name. I love children's books. We read to our kiddos alot---and now our gr. daughter is crazy about books. I used books a great deal when I worked in the pub. sch. setting for articulation and language stimulation and practice. They can be used in so many ways besides just reading the story.
Did you get my name in twice? Just checking! :)
Hope you had a great Pink Sat.! Dana

  15. I was first introduced to Strega Nona when my daughter (now almost 18) was in elementary school. Totally charming. And how nice to have been able to meet him! It reminds me of when my youngest got to meet her favorite author, Patricia Polacco, some 4 years ago. :o)
