My latest junktique journey...

Last week I visited Fairground Antiques in Swanzey, NH (I love that place!). I'll show you what I got in tomorrow's post, but here are some things I didn't buy!

I thought this was the neatest dress... Wouldn't it be perfect as part of a Halloween costume?

This little guy looked like he'd lost his best friend. I would have gladly taken him home, but he was more than I wanted to spend (besides, I was on a mission to find something else)...

This vintage postcard caught my eye... such a peaceful design...

Sweet melodies being played by my daughter...

... on this vintage child's piano.

Well I love the word Enchanted - and I love animals - and you know how I love children's books, but I just couldn't justify the price...

And what a cheerful looking house on the cover of this Little Golden Book....

WARNING... I know some people do not like old dolls or doll 'body parts,' but I couldn't resist photographing them... So if doll parts creep you out, you might want to stop here... (although the next two photos are pretty tame)...

These little ones actually looked very sweet in their basket...

And his little dolly doesn't look too scary....

But - Oh-My-Gosh - look at these!!! Can you say creepy/scary?

I have seen doll's heads displayed, especially at Halloween time, and I think they make the coolest decorations if you're going for a spooky look... (I have to admit I am drawn to them even though I find them a bit scary!)

I'm sure she was very well loved 'once upon a time'...

It's too bad I didn't squeeze these photos into an October post for Halloween!!

Now this little doll has such a sweet face... She doesn't scare me.

But look at that price! That is scary! Or maybe that's a fair price for a doll like this? She does look very old. I guess I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to the value of older dolls/doll parts...
So stop back tomorrow to see what I was searching for - and actually found!!

  1. How funny! I hate old dolls. I hate most dolls. I don't know we find them to be scary but I do. I think it goes back to that old Twilight Zone where the doll would come to life and say "My name is Chatty Cathy and I hate you! I'm going to kill you."

I think all those scary dolls come to life at night. YIKES! I'm scared now.

Can't wait to see what you did buy.

Oh and that cherub was darling. I think I would have had to get that.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  3. What a neat place that looks to be. I wonder what you bought and can't wait to see. I didn't heed your warning and dolls actually do creep me out BIG TIME! Ever since I was 8 years old and watched "trilogy of terror" with Karen Black. Why my dad thought it was okay for me to see is still beyond me, lol. But get this, I have a few collectible porcelain dolls, but they are packed away. I'm such a wuss!!!

  4. I never know what a "fair" price is on a lot of things, so I just have to rely on "how much do I really want it". I've seen a huge gap in prices from one store/booth to another, so I'm never sure when I got a good deal! Can't wait to see what you got...

  6. Looks like great fun- I am a little jaded about pricing myself since I sell vintage things on eBay. I think everything should be dirt cheap since I find all my treasures and inventory for xlose3 to nothing. I am always really hard pressed to shell out a lot of money for anything antique whether it is lovely or not.

  7. Actually Donna,
I think that is a pretty fair price given the doll has a cloth body. Very sweet! Looks like a store I would love to shop at!

  10. Oh I love the cherub and the books but I'd be put off if their prices were too high. The dolls don't scare me --lol-- but I always love dmy dolls till they fell apart.

Can't wait to se what you bought!

  12. I love those old dolls, but those two that you showed are kind of scary. My grandmother had three of those dolls in her bedroom, but we weren't allowed to touch, she had some of her jewelry pinned onto them. I can't wait to see what you bought.
