I liked them so much that I bought one for myself ...
...and one for my Christmas giveaway.
So how lucky was I when I spotted this vintage manger for $3.50 at Goodwill in Boston a couple of weeks ago! I couldn't remember exactly how big the nativity figurines were, but it looked like it might be a good size for them.
It's better than good - it's almost as though they were custom made for each other! As a finishing touch I set a mini ornament in the manger's loft - the Christmas star.
I placed the manger on a small table in front of the family room windowseat.
As it turns out, the table is also the perfect size for the manger.
I love it when all the pieces of a puzzle fit together so easily because sometimes in our little house, and in life in general, that's not always the case!
And over the past 24 hours we got socked with a good amount of snow here in the northeast. I'll try to share photos soon - freshly fallen snow is so beautiful (even to me, who is longing for spring!)

Its finding treasures like you did that keeps me going back to the thrift stores. Sometimes I feel like it's all just junk but then out of the blue a treasure pops up.
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty! I agree it is perfect!
I heard about the snow storm and thought of you. Can't wait to see the pictures.
Hugs,
Joanne
What a beautiful manger and stable you found there. Have a Very Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh, how pretty! What a great deal, and it does look like it was made for that set. laurie
ReplyDeleteDonna,
ReplyDeleteI ran across your website tonight and I just love it. Congrats on the weight loss. Like most of the rest of America, that will be a New Year's Resolution for me. I don't have the courage to post my results on the web, but I applaud you for the courage to post the results and the will to stick with your plan.
If it's ok with you, I'd like to post a picture located on your site to my site. It's the pic encouraging people to adopt homeless animals. Rescuing is a passion of mine and proceeds earned on my blog go to a No-kill rescue facility in my home town.
Looking forward to hearing from you and checking in to your site in the future.

I see you set the manger scene in the tray, I think that is a neat idea, I like that.
ReplyDeleteThe window seat is so inviting. I really like the way you have decorated.
Merry Christmas,
Betsy
That's a beautiful nativity set and the setting you created is wonderful. As for your snow... I'm jealous. Looking forward to the photos!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely, Donna! Your family room is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI just have my nativity sitting out without a stable. Maybe they will get glittered *after* Christmas? ♥
Isn't it wonderful when everything goes together so easily - you know that it was meant to be! I love the nativity; what a great find, Donna!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are all cozy and warm with all that snow on the ground. We have enough to have a White Christmas - you have lots more! But, I bet it is beautiful.
Slowly, and I mean slowly, feeling a bit better. This thing hangs on and is very frustrating. And now Don has it, too. Ah well.
