How long is 'a year' to a cat?

At that time I told her not to worry. After all, next Christmas is less than a a year away!

But when I came down the hallway just a few minutes ago, I found her sitting on top of the pie safe, looking so longingly at where our tree once stood (and probably wondering why Mr. J's doggy bed has taken its place).

At Christmastime, the top of the pie safe was her FAVORITE place to sit when she "played" with the tree (which I'm certain she believes was a toy that had been purchased just for her!)

Poor Baby. Don't worry. A year isn't too long. As a matter of fact, when you get to be my age, a year flies by in the blink of an eye!

So again, how long is a year to a cat? I'm not sure, but I think Baby is camped out here for the long haul, patiently waiting until next Christmas....

... when her beloved tree will once again sit next to the pie safe with all the sparkly 'cat toys'  dangling from its branches!!! You're such a character, Baby!

(a closeup of Baby using my watercolor filter)

I'm joining Brenda at Cozy Little House for Tweak It Tuesday
(even though Baby has not enjoyed our 'un-Christmas' tweaking!)
and Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!!

  1. Before figuring out that question, I think we must first try and figure out how long is a day to a cat? It could make quite a photo blog--a day in the life of a cat. I think it is very long. You could do what some people do, and have an additional Christmas in June or July. Then baby would not have to wait so long for her favorite tree!

  2. Awww, poor Baby!
Our tree will come down this week, and I know our Isabella especially will miss it... she likes to retreat beneath it when the other three are misbehaving. It has been her refuge from their "nonsense".

  5. Oh my, that Baby! Is she part Maine Coon cat? She's so pretty. If I could have a cat, I'd want one just like Baby.

  7. Oh Donna, Baby is a riot. You can always put up a small year-round tree and change decorations according to the holiday. Baby would love that. Take care. Susan

  9. That's so funny, how she looks at the empty space, thinking that it will magically reappear! Silly Baby!

  10. I see baby has nothing left to play with but the lampshade! My cats always knock the shades crooked, too.

  11. Baby is just adorable. I am a cat lover and black and white is my favorite coloring. Love those markings! Mt cats thought the Christmas tree was a wonderful toy too...though they knew I didn't agree. They tried to only play with it when I wasn't looking :)

  12. Baby is such a pretty cat. I felt kind of sad taking down the decorations too, a year actually seems a long time away before we see them all again. Minerva x

  16. Donna, she is a beauty. I have read that dogs have no concept of time. I do not know about cats. I know my cat holds a grudge. Which does indicate memory. My cat and 80lb puppy completely ignore the tree. They are too busy fighting. hugs, Olive
