We're big on traditions in our family.
Every year we celebrate Court's birthday over the St. Patrick's Day weekend
because she was thisclose to being a St. Patrick's day baby!
Carrot cake has been her favorite since she was very little, so that's the birthday cake of choice each year (and this one was quite good, if I do say so myself!). The cake topper I use (almost) every year brings back sweet memories of her very first birthday!
My Nana's china is the star of every St. Patrick's day meal. I come from a long, proud, Irish heritage on my mom's side and our New England boiled dinner just couldn't be served on anything else!
Sunday was beautiful and sunny despite being quite chilly. But the kitchen, with the pots boiling and the oven going was hot, hot, hot, so I threw open the dining room window while I was cooking despite the cold temps.
The birthday crown rested atop the lamp shade until the birthday girl arrived.
It's the crown of honor for whoever's birthday we're celebrating.
The birthday girl arrived and we all had a wonderful day together!
Happy birthday, sweetie! May all your wishes come true!!!
Love, Mumsy
The birthday girl is so lovely! Lots of great traditions!
ReplyDeleteOh Donna, that was a great birthday celebration.
ReplyDeleteNice tradition with the cake topper, etc.
Your daughter is beautiful, too! (Must take after her Mama, eh?)
Donna, two neighborhood cats are always lurking around our yard. Maybe THAT'S why the birdies aren't coming. They think there are monsters here?
Honey Cat doesn't go out in the winter so it's not her.
Oh well. There's water for them if they are brave! Susan
Lovely china, room, cake and birthday girl! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat warm, wonderful birthday memories you have! Your daughter is a gorgeous young lady. Everything about the party looked perfect. I really love your Nana's beautiful china.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you had such an enjoyable day!
Hope your birthday was wonderful, Court. Carrot cake is one of my favorites too, altho I think perhaps I fancy poppyseed cake just a trifle more. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful party in beautiful surroundings!! It puts me in a "happy birthday mood" just seeing them.
Blessings~ Andrea
XOXOXO
What a lovely setting for a birthday celebration. Love the crown for the person celebrating their special day! Looks like fun.

Hi Donna, what a lovely way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and birthdays. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

That cake looks delicious! I love carrot cake especially if it has nuts in it. My daughter has always hated nuts and somethings just aren't the same without them.
ReplyDeleteBelated birthday greetings to the lovely young lady! Any cake left, LOL?
