Spooning... It's music to my ears

Two sets of windchimes hang in our dining room window...

Both are made from spoons...

...that are attached to the bent tines of a fork.

The spoons have been hammered flat on both sets.

I purchased these windchimes almost 15 years ago (although not at the same time) from a craft shop here in New England.

The dining room bay window seemed the perfect place to hang them, seeing as they were made from silverware...

One day last week it was warm enough to open the windows. A gentle breeze is all that's needed to encourage the windchimes to serenade us...

Dreams of being serenaded may have to be put on hold, however, as we're due to get another blast of winter in the form of 2-4" of snow mid-week... But I know that the worst of Old Man Winter is past, and the promise of spring is dancing in my head!!
Wishing you all gentle breezes and sweet serenades...
Donna

  5. Good morning Donna :)

Beautiful wind chimes! I love the sound they make :)

It's so nice to read about a happy ending! Sam's face is so human looking, isn't it?

I'm so glad to see a rescued dog that someone wanted back and what a sweetheart your daughter is for grabbing him :)

  6. I love windchimes.....and have always admired those made from silverware....they make such a delighful sound. There use to be a store in Jackson Hole, WY......years and years ago....that asked you to go into a little area and listen to the windchime that you were interested in, so that you connected with it......I always thought that was neat. Trust me, at the price of these windchimes (is there anything reasonably priced in Jackson Hole?) it was a good idea.

  7. When I first saw "spooning" I thought it would be about cuddling instantly as I did not sleep well last night and did not get my cuddle time in.

But, I like windchimes so this is quite pleasing to me none the less. Very sweet.

  10. I saw a booth at a flea market last summer where an older gentleman was sitting and making these. I wish I would have bought one. They are so pretty. Perhaps he will be there again this summer. We have been quite smitten with little Sam, too. My little guy asked me if we could get a koala bear for a pet..lol. They sure are snuggly looking, aren't they!

  11. Hi Donna. I love your windchimes. I love windchimes, period. There is something so relaxing about listening to the "music" they make..very soothing, almost mesmerizing. Give me a warm day on the porch, some lemonade and a gentle breeze blowing...I could sit with the sun on my face and listen to the windchimes and watch the birds and squirrels all day!

I have a HUGE Gracenotes windchime hanging from the big old oak tree in my front yard. When the wind blows it sounds like church bells...love it! Our neighbors one street over can even hear it.

By the way, is that a new banner on your blog? I love the sweet kitty's face. I think you love animals as much as I do!

    Stay warm...

  14. We are bracing for some cruddy weather, too. Yes, surely Old Man Winter is nearly finished with us!

Love your wind chimes. A good friend of mine, who has a shop here in town, makes those, too. She also makes little photo easels out of forks. What a great way to enjoy cast off silverware.

Such a great puppy rescue by your girl--she's quite a bit like her mom, isn't she?

  17. Donna,
Thanks for the nice comments about my kitchens! They both have their advantages, I guess! I remember being so excited to have REAL countertops to wipe down after leaving the farmhouse kitchen, LOL! All of the surfaces at the farm were wood. Your dining room is to DIE FOR, though! I love everything about it! I looked through all of your photos and love the changes you have made throughout the years. Painting the furniture especially! And those hanging windows - can you explain them? I adore them. Thanks a lot for the nice comments. I appreciate it.

  18. Oh and I have those spoon chimes too! They are packed away somewhere in the multitude of boxes. I know they have to be restrung but I just could NOT part with them!
