I {{heart}} birdbaths...

I admit it... I have a love affair with birdbaths. Last year I took you around our yard and showed you our twelve birdbaths (some are just teeny tiny ones). I also shared various birds, chipmunks and squirrels at our birdbaths last summer in my Backyard Visitors and Drinking Buddies posts. A never-ending supply of fresh water really does attract birds and little critters into the yard.

The newest addition is this white pedestal birdbath ... lucky number 13!!

I couldn't resist its distressed charm (that, and the fact that it was on clearance at The Christmas Tree Shop!)...

It has pretty roses around the base....

...and two sweet birds that sit on either side of the basin.

For the past few weeks I've been trying to decide where to place it. Yesterday I moved it to the backyard against the fence (the location you see in the first photo). The white shows up nicely against the age-darkened fence so I think that will be its permanent home.

If any of you are in the market for a birdbath fountain, just look at this one that I spotted at our local Wal Mart earlier this week (it's also available on their website, which is where this photo came from)... Isn't it adorable? I love how the water comes out of the bird's beak... Their website also has several varieties of simple pedestal birdbaths (not fountains) with bird statues perched on the edge of the basin... I am so drawn to that style!
I've really been enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having. Today was gorgeous! You'd never know that the night before last we had frost warnings! I ran around covering all my annuals with plastic bags and, thankfully, they all made it through the chilly New England night!
Wishing you all a lovely week, wherever you are!
Donna

  1. Such a pretty bird bath. I have got to find a Christmas store quickly. When we purchased our home there was a bird bath left in the garden. It's lovely with pink tiles roses on it but it leaks. I have got to take a closer look and see if I can fix it. Your bird cage is so sweet. Just another thing on the ever gorwing list of things I intend to find for my home

  2. 13 birdbaths! Now that's just not fair! I have one (currently at my daughter's and she won't part with it!) but really want it back!
Yours are so pretty and I do like the one from WalMart. Might just have to go get one!

  3. I don't even have one birdbath, at least not yet :0)
I have to tell you, one of the things I enjoy so much about your blog is watching how your yard transforms with each new season. Being in So Cal we do not have "changing" seasons like that so I really appreciate your "show".

  5. Wow! I love how the bird is continuously projectile vomiting water into the birdbath's basin! HA HA! I couldn't resist! It is actually a lovely fountain.

I can see why you couldn't resist your most recent addition to your birdbath collection! It's charming! :)

  6. I love the distressed look myself. Very pretty. I was telling hubs we should put a bird bath out and a couple birdhouses. We have so many birds here. Cardinals, blue jays (though they can be mean), finches, robbins and so on. I love listening to them and their birdsong.

  12. Oh no! Another bird bath! I'm happy to know I'm not the only one with several different bird baths in my back yard. Now that I've seen your new ones I think I need to get one or two...or three for my front yard.

Thanks to you I'm off to look at them on the Walmart site.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  13. I just picked up the fountain birdbath from Walmart tonight. It was $40, originally $128! What a deal. The girls and I put it together tonight.
