Impatiens is the flower of choice in the planters and window boxes of this brown-thumbed gardener.
They ask for nothing but water.
They need no pruning...
... no fertilizer...
... no dead heading.
They cheerfully greet each new day...
...with an abundance...
... of colorful blossoms.
Sweet impatiens...
... you will forever be my flower of choice...
I'm so happy that you are thriving.
You were hard to find at the garden centers this year...
Hopefully the disease you were prone to...
... will be a thing of the past by next summer.
I can't even imagine a summer...
.. without you.
The high temps and high humidity have fled New England for a spell, leaving us with gloriously beautiful weather! If the temperatures stayed like this, I'd love to have summer year 'round!
I'm joining Tracie's Cottage Garden Party at Fishtail Cottage this week.
Have a great week, everyone!

I just may have to try them next year. I have experienced only failure when it comes to annuals. You'd think I'd be able to keep up with watering (if that's all one has to do)!
ReplyDeleteI like the window & window box on the old swing set/child's play structure. What a sweet idea.
We're sharing your beautiful weather here in NE Indiana. What a delight!
They are one of the best annual flowers for color in shady areas. As long as they get regular drinks, they will keep on looking great for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful blog. Love your use of window panes and flower boxes. I didn't know impatiens were shade flowers. Now I do, and will try to grow some.
ReplyDeleteI have an unusually large coleus in a corner. Its colors are dark reddish purple and lime green. I purchased some white impatiens to brighten up the area. They are planted next to the stone edging. I love that impatiens don't need deadheading!
ReplyDeleteYour impatients are beautiful! I love the colors, so bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThey are my favorite as well. Mine are doing okay but don't seem to be spreading in the flower boxes. I bought the double ones this year. I switched my iron pot to begonias this year. They are doing wonderful. I have never used them before. The deer like the impatients though. I don't know what I would do without them either. Pretty pictures.
ReplyDeleteNice photos, love the different angles. Pretty flowers too, Vincas are very similar to Impatients as they too require nothing but water.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Gina
Impatiens are my "go to" flower also. Some reds are doing great under my red hibiscus and they just make me smile.
