Cherubs, and flowers, and birds... oh, my!

Almost a year ago, I picked up several vintage-styled tin plaques at The Christmas Tree Shop during an 'after-Valentine's Day' sale. It's now February and I finally get to use them!

(click any photos to enlarge)

I love all of them, but this one has the most incredible pink rose (perfect for Pink Saturday!!)... Hmmm, it looks pretty good on the vintage birdcage...

... but I also like it as part of the fireplace mantel decorations.

Just look at these two sweet little cherubs!! I tried hanging them from our little recycling center...

... but ended up hanging them from the dining room window. After all, there is a dove on the plaque so it seems only fitting that it hang above the bird feeder...

This is the largest of the three plaques. First I tried it on the doors of the TV hutch...

...and then I tried it on the dining room hutch.

I think I'll leave it here because the hutch cherubs seem very happy to have another cherub as company for Valentine's day.

I believe in angels...

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels."
Hebrews 13:2
Although I don't have an actual collection, I have accumulated several angels over the years and I thought December was the perfect time to share some of them with you...

This beautiful angel was purchased as a Christmas decoration many years ago from TJ Maxx...

Well, he never did get put away with the Christmas decorations that year because I fell in love with him. So now we enjoy him year-round on the living room hearth next to our church birdhouse.

This cast iron cherub door knocker is sometimes used as a decoration, sometimes as a paperweight...

This is another angel that started out as a Christmas decoration. She was originally painted gold when I got her from Wal Mart but I repainted her and hung her above the family room window seat. That was years ago and she's never been taken down.

I've applied full bodied cherub appliques to my dining room hutch...

... and cherub head appliques to the jelly cupboard...

During the summer, a pair of cherub heads (actually curtain rod holders) are always nestled among the flowers on the deck... (Oh my - it's going to be a long six months before I'm able to enjoy flowers out on the deck again!!!)

Cherubs and Flowers and Birds - Oh My!

We've had this rocker for over 22 years now (ever since our oldest was just a baby)...

When I switched from prim to cottage several years ago, I started looking for new chair cushions that matched the lighter colors I was starting to use...

I found these reversible rocker cushions on eBay... robin's egg blue (as well as peachy-pinks), perfect for the new 'cottage' decor...

The fabric design is bursting with flowers, vines, cherubs and birds... And I love that both pieces are reversible so I can mix & match them on a whim... I just love this shade of blue!

Be sure to stop by Smiling Sally's blog to see her Blue Monday post, to find a list of other participating blogs, or to share a bit of your own favorite blue!
