'Tis the season... for yard sales!

Two weekends ago it was actually in the SEVENTIES here in New England!! Those gorgeous temps got me to thinking about yard sales so I checked on-line to see if there were any scheduled for the following weekend. Sure enough, I found one for the next Saturday, and not too far from where I live!

Unfortunately when Saturday arrived, it was in the mid-TWENTIES at 9 a.m. when I showed up at the yard sale. I was the only one there other than the poor homeowner and his sweet little daughter. The week before, when temps hit the 70's, a yard sale had seemed like a good idea. Not so much that morning...

But, oh, what a BARGAIN I found! I got this cool little pot for only $5. Now I'm not a cook, so if there's a name for a piece like this, I have no idea what it is. I'm guessing it's some type of kettle because of the unique handle and the little pouring spout...

I LOVE this piece! I made tomato soup in it last night to go with our grilled cheese sandwiches, and it was so easy to pour the soup into our mugs! I'm going to use it as a tea kettle on the stove top since I don't have one.

But what REALLY made this a bargain was that for my $5, I not only got that cool little "spout kettle," I got the ENTIRE set of matching cookware!!! I am in L-O-V-E with this set! I may actually end up enjoying cooking!

The set is by SILAMPOS, Made in Portugal. It seems to be a very nice quality set of cookware, although I can honestly say I know nothing about this brand... But what I do know is that I got one heck of a deal at my first yard sale of the season!!!
Wishing you all sunny spring days! Here in New England we have been DELUGED with rain for weeks on end it seems, but today the sun is shining - what a WELCOME sight!!!

Putting my yard sale goodies to work for me...

On Sunday, Spotty and I showed you these goodies that I picked up at a yard sale last weekend; at that time I promised to share where I used some of these treasures...

The Wicker Planter: Even though I'm still not crazy about the color, I'm leaving it alone for now (although Coralie must have been reading my mind when she suggested painting it a nice cottage white because that was my first thought, too!!)... It's perfect for the oversized pot I plant my basil in every year. (And one of our little Chips, who happened to be on a peanut run, asked if he could be in the photo, too!!)

Pyrex Ovenware: Turns out it's also the perfect size for the salads I make to go with our supper most evenings!

Tea Kettle Timer: The timer has made its home in a corner of the kitchen counter for the time being...

Green Fringed Rug: I'm loving it in front of the sink right now...

... but I can think of so many other places throughout the house where it will also be used...

Have a happy Friday, everyone!.............

The early bird....

...(and that would be me) got some pretty cool stuff at a yard sale Saturday morning (and for next to nuthing, which is the great thing about yard sales!)... Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is also sharing her great chandelier find and has a list of lots of other yard-saling bloggers sharing their recent finds, so be sure to stop over there when you're done here!

...and look who was right there to check everything out the minute it came into the house!

This big wicker planter will be perfect out on the deck (hubby loves the gray stained color, but I'm not sure I'm digging it); the wire shelving unit on casters is exactly what I need to organize some supplies in my office...

L-o-v-e these fringed scatter rugs (and in my favorite blue and green color combination that I posted about yesterday!!) Perfect for the kitchen or entryway...

Okay, how cute is this little 'stainless steel' tea kettle timer? And this 3 quart glass Pyrex casserole/serving dish is going to get lots of use!

So in the end, Spotty approved of all my purchases and told me he's anxious to lay (shed) on the scatter rugs as soon as they come out of the wash! I'll show you where I ended up using everything in a post later this week!!

Happy Sunday, everyone!
