My summer oasis...

This is where I head to relax and regroup...
It's my favorite place to hang out for a while on good days. It's an absolute necessity on bad days.

The weather has been nothing short of spectacular lately. Maybe a tad on the chilly side, but you'll hear no complaints from me.

While picking up clothes at my father's house the other day to bring to the nursing home, I noticed that a bush my mom planted next to the house many years ago was in full bloom.

I snipped a few branches and when I got them home I placed them in a vase out on the patio table.

I'm grasping for anything tangible these days...Things connected to my mother... And still searching my heart and soul, and listening for answers to oh-so-many questions...

Clearly someone was listening and sent a sweet little hummingbird my way to bring a smile to my lips.

Times may be tough, but life is good. Thank you all, so very much, for your heartfelt comments and messages. You have no idea how much they mean to me.

I'm linking to Cindy at My Romantic Home's Show & Tell Friday. Be sure to stop by and visit her!

Lovely spot to relax and have a cup of coffee and the latest issue of a cottage or garden magazine!

Oh Donna. I identify SO MUCH with your post today. Things are tough but it's still good to be alive, that's for sure.

Loved your special spot. Do you have mosquitoes? That's the only drawback for me in being outside. HATE mosquitoes.

Take care and have a good Monday. Let's strive for peace today. Susan

I guess no one ever said life would be easy.... Sometimes I am amazed at the timing of the kind comments my blogging friends give me. They pick me up & get me going again!!
Love to You...

Good Morning, Donna,
I have been thinking about you so much lately. Caring for an aging parent is so difficult...Please know that we are all here to listen and support you. A lot of us have had to experience similar situations, so know how emotional it all can be.

I do enjoy visiting your blog...we have much in common. Your outdoor seating are caught my eye, as it reminded me of my blog post yesterday. And I had just taken photos of the flowering bush out front that looks like the ones you shared with us.

Take care of yourself and let me know if you need to talk. ~Natalie

What a lovely oasis! Your porch looks so comforting. As I read your past couple of posts...I could relate to your sorrow. I can still remember the sound of my moms voice. I've been missing her a lot these past couple of weeks. My mom passed away on Jan 28, 2011. May you find comfort in flowers, hummingbirds and sweet memories!

Love and hugs to you,

~Sandy

New here...I see why this spot is so soothing to you. I have a similar (but much smaller) spot myself. Still it reminds me of yours...

Just Beautiful.

Such a tranquil and restful spot. And the arrangement of flowers on the cottage-style tablecloth is lovely. {{{{hugs}}}}

I love your little getaway spot. Looks so sweet and relaxing. I must have the same kind of bushes as you because I recognize the flowers! ;-) Mine are budding right now, too.

An absolutely beautiful spot. No wonder you go there to sort things out.

I know how hard it is to have a parent in a nursing home. It's a rough road. Take care and be good to yourself.
