Our Memorial Day...

We had a nice relaxing Memorial Day.

After driving our oldest daughter, who came home for the weekend, back to Boston I spent some time in our little back yard. We've done a little tweaking out here, but not much.

The irises are in full bloom now, putting on a spectacular show.

Lots of weeding needs to be done! (Those are flowers -yet to bloom- in front of my flamingos, but to the center and left in front of the picket fence it's all weeds!).

One of our little hummers paid a visit while I was sitting up on the deck. He couldn't seem to decide whether to sip from the feeder or visit the flowers (yet to be planted). He opted for the sugar water in the feeder.

But the best part about our Memorial Day...

... was that we were able to go to the Emergency Animal Clinic Monday night at 9:30 to pick up THIS happy little guy...

... who after four days of not eating, finally has his ravenous appetite back!

Our boy is 13 and he's got his share of health issues, so it's often a guessing game as to what is going on. Long story short, after visits to the vet on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and then a 24 hour stay at the Emergency Animal Clinic Sunday/Monday, we have our boy back home!

Thank you all soooo much for your thoughts and prayers for Mr. J! We sure appreciated them!

This week I'm joining Brenda at Cozy Little House for Tweak It Tuesday and
Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

He's home!!!!

Thank you all SOOO much for your prayers and well wishes for our boy!

From Thursday afternoon until about 11 p.m. Saturday evening, he was at the Emergency Clinic recovering from an operation to remove his spleen due to internal bleeding. Before they could operate, he needed a blood transfusion because he had lost so much blood. As if that wasn't enough, Mr J has had ongoing problems with his right eye, and the surgeons thought it would be wise (if he was handling the anesthesia without any problems) to go ahead and remove his eye at the same time since it was going to continue to cause him problems - and great pain - in the future.

As it turns out, we are familiar with this procedure because our sweet Ms. Giz, who we lost several years ago, also had to have her right eye removed due to constant eye infections/complications related to her diabetes. And as you can see from this photo, she was a very happy little girl despite the procedure.

So now our boy is home! We bought and installed a baby gate before we went to pick him up because he is not allowed to use stairs for quite some time. (It has been a LONG time since we've had a baby gate at the top of these stairs - our girls are now 24 and 27 years old!)

Mr J goes back to have his stitches removed in 10-12 days. In the meantime he is on pain killers and high blood pressure medicine, which he is handling just fine. We will know biopsy results early next week and are certainly praying that there is no cancer involved.

Mr J, shortly after coming home last night...

So as a recap...
Cost of original vet visit (well over $200)....
Cost of 3-day emergency clinic (suffice to say, thousands upon thousands)
Cost of  baby gate... ($59)
Having our boy back at home, smiling..... PRICELESS!

Happy Halloweeeeeeen!

From our house to yours...

Happy Halloween!!!

Baby...

...Tiger

... and Mr. J got into the spirit thanks to PicMonkey!

But today, with no help from PicMonkey, Baby got into costume...

I bought her the little witch hat at AC Moore last month...

And Court bought her a cute little Jack O Lantern shirt.

As you can see from this little video, she is the most mellow cat when it comes to being dressed up!

She doesn't mind wearing her hat or shirt in the least.

However, she did jump down to look for her witch hat when it fell off!

I hope you all have a safe and Happy Halloween!!!!

This week I'm joining Vintage on a Dime for Welcome Home Wednesday and
Show & Tell Friday at My Romantic Home!
