Mayhem, Mischief, and a New Do for the Dog

Introducing the newly bathed and closely cropped Mr. J!

I did not even recognize him when I picked him up from the groomer. Seriously.

He says, "What happened?? Where is my fur coat!" I know.. A terrible time of year to get a haircut, my poor boy. The temperatures have plunged here in New England. Thank goodness you are an indoor boy through and through.

Maybe the following was payback for his trip to the groomer....

This is what I returned home to after running a quick errand the other morning. I didn't even think about the trash bag sitting in the kitchen, waiting to be brought downstairs. It's been a while since we've had a dog, and I'd forgotten that was high on the list of things to never leave sitting out!

OMG, just look at the guilty look on his face! ha ha (I love how the groomer left him a little spiked do on his head!)

Here he is after I told him it was okay and that it was my fault for not taking the time to bring down the trash before running out the door! Guilty look having been replaced by his "can I have a treat?" look...... Oh - another orb next to Mr. J's ear. Back when we had Mr. O'Malley, we had to put rubber bands on the cabinet door handles beneath the sink to keep him from pawing open the cabinet door and pulling the trash out. Once again, I suspect that orb is him telling Mr. J, "Well done! I couldn't have done a better job myself."

So between Mr. J and Baby, this house has been c-r-a-z-y lately! Actually, Mr. J only accounts for 1% of the mayhem while little Baby makes up the other 99%. Our shy Tiger doesn't contribute anything to the craziness as she spends most of the day just sleeping on Amanda's old bed.
My next post will show why we are seriously considering not putting up a tree this year!

The pitter patter of 4 more feet...

I am so sorry I haven't been around much. We've had a lot of things going on around here, and I just don't have the time for much of anything anymore it seems. But, I have finally found a minute to introduce Mr. J, our newest family member!

"Say cheese"

Is he not the cutest little guy ever? Some of you may recognize him. I have posted photos of him in past blogposts about our Cape Cod visits. But last month, Mr. J moved in with us.

"Saying goodbye"

My dear relative found it necessary to move in with another relative in a distant part of the country. Unfortunately, there was no way Mr. J could join her in her new living arrangements. It is so difficult for older people and their animals when life circumstances necessitate goodbyes. There are so many wonderful animals in shelters right now because an elderly owner has passed away, or perhaps had to enter assisted living. It breaks my heart that these people and their devoted pets have to be separated. But this isn't meant to be a downer post. My relative has the peace of mind in knowing that her sweet Mr. J is being loved in his new forever home - with us! The following photos have been taken over the past month.

This was the first photo I took of Mr. J when we got him home. Figures it would have an orb in it (I think I'm the queen or capturing orbs!).. Anyhow, based on the location of the orb, right by Mr. J's rear quarters (oh, heck, I'll just say it - his butt), I think it might be our Mr. O'Malley or Ms. Giz checking out the new addition! After all, that is how dogs greet each other! (For any new readers, Mr. O'Malley and Ms. Giz were the dogs we lost several years ago, pictured on my sidebar.)

Second picture. Mr. J getting into belly rub pose. Since that was Mr. O'Malley's FAVORITE thing, I'll bet that orb was him telling Mr. J that I give GREAT belly rubs!

This was taken in November... Mr. J getting used to his new yard. He was also desperately in need of a good bath and grooming, but a highly recommended groomer was booked a month out, so he had to sport his shaggy look for quite some time.

Therefore I took the scissors to the fur that was hanging over his eyes so we could at least see each other! Much better! Just look at that face and that big toothy grin! I think he approves

Mr. J is somewhere between 9 and 11 years old and your guess is as good as mine as to what breeds he has in him! When my aunt adopted him from the shelter a few years ago, his papers listed him as a lhasa apso mix. But he's quite a bit bigger than a lhasa; I think I see a bit of poodle in him maybe?

This is Mr. J waiting for his supper. I was a mean mommy and held his bowl up while balancing the camera to capture this sweet "anticipation" look he wears before breakfast and dinner.

And here he is, after his little belly is full. Now just like our Baby, he looks like the picture of innocence, doesn't he? But just you wait until you see what I came home to today! You'll also get to see him sporting his new haircut...
Oh, and the transition with the cats has been a hoot. I'll fill you all in on how that is going, too!

Till next time...

It's cuddle time in Alaska!

Continuing with my state-by-state Adopt-A-Pet blogposts, I've found four furry buddies in ALASKA who would love to find someone to cuddle with, especially since the cold weather is right around the corner!!

Meet RUSTY, a beautiful male husky just aching to find his forever home! Just look at that toothy grin - doesn't it make your heart melt?

RAOUL, an adult male b&w tuxedo cat, is described as "a lean mean loving machine" who gets along well with other cats. He is so regal. He'd love to be king of your castle!

Sweet little Chili is a purebred Chihuahua, and she would love to have someone to snuggle up with during the long, cold winter, and forevermore! She looks so scared in this photo. She needs to find her forever home so she can have happy photos from now on!

Adana is a darling little Siamese lady who is described as "a love sponge" once you start petting her and she feels safe. She has vestibular syndrome, resulting in some eye flickering, but it is a mild case. She is hoping to find her purrrrfect home sometime soon!
If you have room in your hearts and homes for any of these fur babies, they would LOVE to meet you!
If you aren't in Alaska, just click on Adopt-A-Pet and enter your own zip code or location to find a shelter animal in your area that is desperately hoping to find its forever home.

My favorite new TV commercial....

Whoever wrote the dialogue for this latest Pedigree commercial has such a way with words... Every time it comes on the TV I just stop what I am doing and get lost in the narration and those eyes.... (I actually love all of Pedigree's commercials!)

A little tribute to the shelter dogs who have enriched our lives....

Ms. Gizmo, adopted at age 8 ... the sweetest troll dog who ever lived. We love and miss you so much, our Gizzy girl.

Mr. O'Malley, adopted at age 7 ... an old soul with the most loving heart. We miss everything about you, our sweet boy.

Sooshi (aka Suchi), adopted at age 2 ... our little man dog who had the sweetest disposition, and who we miss every single day

Casper, adopted at age 2 ... a gentle giant who lived through terrible abuse and neglect before ending up in the shelter, and who taught us so much about trust, forgiveness, and unconditional love. You will always live in our hearts.
