The kitties were nestled all snug in their beds...

Cats are known for their love of napping...

...and our two are no exception.

Our sweet Tiger, adopted back in September of '93, is over 19 years old. She has always been on the shy side. When she was younger, she spent a lot more time out and about in the house during the day, but always returned to Amanda's bed at nighttime.

Now that she's older, she spends the majority of her days - and nights - on the bed in Amanda's old room. This is Tiger's spot, the place she has slept every night of her life since she was a wee kitten. You don't see me post too often about our Tiger because, frankly, she does spend most days doing just this - sleeping!

She won't climb into covered cat beds (which we thought would provide her with a bit more warmth on cold winter nights), so instead we create a makeshift tent of sorts out of pillows and blankets. She happily crawls into it, snuggling up in the back where she feels safe and warm.

Of course her favorite times are when Amanda is home, as she was over Thanksgiving (when I snapped this photo). At those times, she gets to sleep with her favorite person in the world! Pure kitty bliss!

Now Baby, on the other hand (who is, by all rights, Court's kitty), well she truly is just a babe, only a few years old.

She's perfectly content to curl up anywhere to catch her 40 winks.

All the better if it's in the middle of all the action (like the living room bay window). She thrives on being the center of attention.

I disturbed her nap a bit and she cutely stretched her paws outwards and then went right back to napping. This is one of her favorite spots because the heating vents are just on either side of this chest and when the forced hot air comes on, it rushes up the back of this chest making it a very warm place to nap (especially when the temps outside are in the 30's!).

Here's a little clip of her eyebrows and whiskers being tousled about by the force of the heat.

With all my picture taking, Baby woke up enough to do a kitty's second favorite thing - washing!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Halloween Cats

I love Halloween and I love black cats, and the two definitely go hand-in-hand.

This was my sweet boy, Mr. B, aka Blackie, many years ago.

He felt right at home among all the decorations and delighted in being
the star attraction in these old Halloween photos.

Likewise with his predecessor, Mrs. B, who was the Queen of Halloween. She looked positively regal among the Halloween decor. An absolute natural. How I miss these two black beauties.

Our black cats took like ducks to water when it came to posing for Halloween photos.
Our Baby? Not so much. At least not when we got her a couple of years ago.

That year, she wanted no part of her Halloween bandana.

Eventually she decided it wasn't so bad, but she still wouldn't pose with the Halloween decorations.

Although I must admit, by the time Halloween rolled around, she was getting into the spririt,
enjoying Lamp Bandit...

...and playing in a pile of faux fall leaves on the dining room table.

So how is she doing this year?

Well......we got off to a bit of a rocky start.
When I got the leaves and berry garland out, she immediately started chewing it.
Not a good thing.

She finally settled down and lost interest in the berry garland (thank goodness!)...

In time, she channeled her inner "black cat" and even joined
the black chalkware kitty among the Halloween decorations.
Yes, I think she's finally getting the hang of being a Halloween star!

This week I'll be joining Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday
and
Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage for Favorite Thing Saturday.

Have a great October week, everyone!

It's cuddle time in Alaska!

Continuing with my state-by-state Adopt-A-Pet blogposts, I've found four furry buddies in ALASKA who would love to find someone to cuddle with, especially since the cold weather is right around the corner!!

Meet RUSTY, a beautiful male husky just aching to find his forever home! Just look at that toothy grin - doesn't it make your heart melt?

RAOUL, an adult male b&w tuxedo cat, is described as "a lean mean loving machine" who gets along well with other cats. He is so regal. He'd love to be king of your castle!

Sweet little Chili is a purebred Chihuahua, and she would love to have someone to snuggle up with during the long, cold winter, and forevermore! She looks so scared in this photo. She needs to find her forever home so she can have happy photos from now on!

Adana is a darling little Siamese lady who is described as "a love sponge" once you start petting her and she feels safe. She has vestibular syndrome, resulting in some eye flickering, but it is a mild case. She is hoping to find her purrrrfect home sometime soon!
If you have room in your hearts and homes for any of these fur babies, they would LOVE to meet you!
If you aren't in Alaska, just click on Adopt-A-Pet and enter your own zip code or location to find a shelter animal in your area that is desperately hoping to find its forever home.
