Vintage Blue Drinking Glasses & Caddy

I mentioned last week that I found one more thing at Fairground Antiques while searching for frames....

...and that I was going to save it for a Blue Monday post... (Spotty thinks this blue looks lovely against his fur and asked to be in one of the photos!)

Well just look at what I found and fell in love with! The glasses are unmarked, so I don't have any information on them... Does anyone know what this pattern is called? Or what these flowers are? For some reason I want to say they're cornflowers, but I'm not really sure... (They actually look like blue poinsettias to me!)

I don't think I'll use them as drinking glasses. I tend to have 'slippery fingers' and I want the entire set kept intact! So I'll most likely use them to store my paintbrushes or as a vase. Wouldn't a single flower in each glass look sweet?

Now please hop over to Smiling Sally to see her Blue Monday post and to find a list of all the other blue-loving bloggers participating in this week's Blue Monday!

Update: Thanks for all the help in figuring out what these flowers are. I guess I wasn't too far off in saying maybe cornflowers or blue poinsettias! The glasses did come in the caddy when I bought them, but I don't know if they were originally paired together or if somewhere throughout the years someone thought they looked good together!

(And don't forget to enter my giveaway here... Wednesday noon is the deadline!)

I love your glasses. I don't know what the flowers are, but they're pretty. :)

I'm no help with the flowers either. Oh well. I think a single flower in each glass would be so pretty and to display them with the glasses in the caddy. That would be a cool centerpiece. I love that idea. I will have to suggest that to my daughter. I let her have a caddy with glasses when she moved. They had been my mother-in-law's.

Next time I'll post some of my wife's Finnish design glasses.

Hi Donna -
Your glasses are gorgeous! And to find them all intact in the carrier is special. I don't know anything about the flowers on them but I would have had a hard resisting them if I had found them. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Happy Blue Monday, Donna. I remember drinking from glasses similar to these when I was a child, so they certainly are vintage! I can't name that flower any better than you did.

Hi Donna!
Lovely glass set and love the shabby caddy they are in! Great idea to do one flower in each, and would look so adorable as a craft organizer too!
They do look like poinsettias! Perhaps you have some rare Christmas glasses that are worth a fortune on Antiques Roadshow! Be careful with them!! (wouldn't that be nice?)
Big hugs, Sherry

Donna, they look like poinsettias to me as well. They look good in the caddy. Would really look good at Christmas time in a Blue and White kitchen....

Good Morning Donna and Happy Blue Monday. I just love the beautiful blue flowered juice glasses you found. I have never seen them with just a single color flower like yours. The ones I see in the antique malls usually have two or three different colored flowers on them. I have a similar set of juice glasses, but mine have a green, rosy pink and white floral/leaf pattern.

Hey, I like those glasses with the blue flowers very much. Of course anything with flowers on them rings my bell. The flowers look like Campanula, also called cornflowers.

They are a treasure; especially with the caddy! Looks like they belong on Lucy Ricardo's table!

Very nice glasses. I love how you have them displayed and the white background emphasizes the blue so nicely.

I have that same caddy! Aren't they nice? I love the way the paint is chipping off, but still isn't that messy way of chipping that gets all over the place.

maybe your flowers are painted daisies?

The glasses are really pretty. I have no idea what the pattern is. I have never seen any with that pattern. I like the caddy. I remember that my mother had a set of glasses with a caddy. Happy Blue Monday.
