The owners must love bears and Christmas, because both figured very prominently in the country style decor. Here's Amanda with Mrs. Bear, who guards the coat rack.
An adorable "teddy bear room" on display by the checkout counter...
The entry/exit to the restaurant is decorated like Santa's village.
And then it was on to Blueberry Hill Antiques.
I loved this window, with the glass decanters and the pale yellow chenille spread serving as a curtain. The blue and yellow was such a pretty combination!
Ooooh - my weakness - a bird cage on a stand!
An old bureau with drawers full of quilts...
A wide variety of bureaus to choose from...
I loved this old kitty door stop! That cottage kitty would be perfect in my home, but the price didn't come anywhere close to my budget!
I also loved all the old windows they had... What's that song? "If I had a million dollars..."
Amanda is into all things nautical and loves clipper ships and such, so I had to take her picture with this beautiful painting.
So if you're in the Old Saybrook area, be sure to pop into Blueberry Hill Antiques, 523 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, CT 06475 (860-388-6100). I think you'll be glad you did!

I wish I could have that pink depression glass and the quilts, too! I'd love to go there.
I know I haven't but I feel like I've been there before...looks like a lovely place to visit...
What a beautiful shop! Love that pink depression glass & birdcage -- they are definitely my faves.
It looks like you two had a lovely time together...Were you tempted to bring that birdcage home with you? I have a feeling you were!
What a great outing for you and your daughter. I love the pink depression glass and the quilts. That little white dresser is just like one that was in the boys bedroom when I was growing up. It wasn't painted, it was oak, and I remember really liking it. They had the matching bureau, too. My sister has the little one down in SC and she has her TV on it in her family room. I don't know what happened to the bureau. Funny, how we all want to go back! I love it!
Move over kiddo! I'm on my way to get that bird cage before you change your mind and get it. LOL Well I would be if I didn't live on the other side of the country. LOL
Hugs,
Joanne
I was hopping around checking out the participants of Where Bloggers Create and found your post on Old Saybrook. We live... well actually our business is in O.S. so imagine my delight when I saw it. I go to Recycled Furniture often and have also gone to Blueberry Hill but have never found books for 25 or even 50 cents....good job.
Love your creating space too.
