Sweet Cape Cod in September...

This past week I made a quick day trip to beautiful Cape Cod to help a relative run some errands, and the weather could not have been more gorgeous!

I don't think I have ever seen hydrangeas as beautiful as the ones I see on the Cape!

Having arriveded on Cape a bit before my aunt expected me, I thought a trip to the beach might be a good idea...

How right I was!

The beaches that were packed just weeks before...

...were virtually empty now that the kids are back at school.

There were a few people here and there... Some relaxed, read books, and enjoyed the view...

... while others flew kites. I'm so glad I had a bit of time to visit the ocean. There is nothing like it to refresh the soul.
And then it was time to head to my aunt's... Look at the cute bunny that greets visitors to her front door.

She lives in a beautiful home...

...and I always love coming to the Cape to visit her.

There's someone else I love coming to visit...

Is this not the cutest face ever?

Yes, indeed. I think it is!

The house inside is so warm and inviting... An eclectic mix of colonial, traditional, and contemporary... The fireplace off the kitchen is the perfect place to relax with a cup of hot tea on a chilly day...

And the sunroom is the perfect place to relax when you want to take in the views outside...

The living room is always so cheerful and flooded with natural light...

The diamond pane windows were the inspiration for the windows we put into our family room addition 21 years ago.

Then it was off to run errands... I snapped a few photos while we were out and about... We stopped by this marina and I just loved the flag rippling in the breeze...

...and we made a quick detour off of Rte. 6A so I could snap a photo of the Edward Gorey House (which is a FUN place to visit, although we didn't have time today!).

And finally, with all of our errands completed, we headed to The Marshside restaurant in Dennis for supper.

If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop in.

The gardens surrounding the restaurant are gorgeous...

...and the marsh views are stunning. And can you believe I forgot to take photos of our food? You'll have to trust me... My baked scallops were to die for and my aunt loved her lobster mac & cheese (which had HUGE chunks of lobster meat!)...

I left the Cape right at sunset. I think the Cape must be one of the most beautiful places on earth! I hope you enjoyed coming along with me!
We are on a roll of fantastic weather! I hope you are all enjoying September!

Make your own PHOTO Pumpkin!

I thought this might be a good time to repost a fun project that I shared last year. After all, Halloween is right around the corner, and the stores are full of faux pumpkins right now, so it seems like the perfect time!

So gather up some of your favorite Halloween photos of pets...

... or children...

... or both!

....and then click HERE for Step-by-Step instructions on how to create your own PHOTO PUMPKINS!! (What a great gift for a grandmother - the little ones all dressed up in their trick-or-treat costumes!!!)

A daughter's love...

My daughter sent me a link to this blogpost tonight and I just had to pass it along. It definitely tugs at my heart and soul, perhaps because we are going through issues with my dad right now, or perhaps because it is just a simple and straightforward testament of this daughter's love for her father and her wishes to help him in any way she can....

In any case, feel free to share on your blogs if you'd like. Just click on the photo to read more!
Butch and Summer, you're in my thoughts and prayers!

Caught in the act!

Don't let this sweet little face fool you...

... not for a minute.

Yes, Baby. I'm talking about Y-O-U. And I'm about to spill the beans on you and your shenanigans.

The only other feline who had such a habit was my beloved Mr. B...

He also looked like the picture of innocence....

(I love you and miss you, my boy...)

Yes, our darling little Baby is channeling my Mr. B and has become....
;

;
;
;
;
;

A TOILET drinker!!!!!
That is just gross, Baby!!!!

How can such sweet little faces disguise such disgusting behavior!

So now that we have discovered her habit, we are all very careful to keep the lid closed when not in use! And no, Baby, I do not want a kiss right now!
Donna, who is writing from EXTREMELY cool New England (or maybe it just feels cool after the horrendously HOT summer we had!) In any case, have a happy week, everyone!

It's cuddle time in Alaska!

Continuing with my state-by-state Adopt-A-Pet blogposts, I've found four furry buddies in ALASKA who would love to find someone to cuddle with, especially since the cold weather is right around the corner!!

Meet RUSTY, a beautiful male husky just aching to find his forever home! Just look at that toothy grin - doesn't it make your heart melt?

RAOUL, an adult male b&w tuxedo cat, is described as "a lean mean loving machine" who gets along well with other cats. He is so regal. He'd love to be king of your castle!

Sweet little Chili is a purebred Chihuahua, and she would love to have someone to snuggle up with during the long, cold winter, and forevermore! She looks so scared in this photo. She needs to find her forever home so she can have happy photos from now on!

Adana is a darling little Siamese lady who is described as "a love sponge" once you start petting her and she feels safe. She has vestibular syndrome, resulting in some eye flickering, but it is a mild case. She is hoping to find her purrrrfect home sometime soon!
If you have room in your hearts and homes for any of these fur babies, they would LOVE to meet you!
If you aren't in Alaska, just click on Adopt-A-Pet and enter your own zip code or location to find a shelter animal in your area that is desperately hoping to find its forever home.

upcycled silver water pitcher...

This silver water pitcher that I've had laying around...

....has now been put to use on the kitchen counter as a utensil holder.

It may go back to being a flower vase at some point, but for now it's replacing a tall pottery vase that I had been using for the utensils that was very prone to tipping over.

I love it's fancy little handle...

...and feet. Yup. I think I'm going to enjoy looking at this little guy in my kitchen every day.
