Christmas in March...

This is our Christmas cactus right now...

...happily budding and blooming in the living room window.

This was it on Dec. 22nd, just before Christmas.

It was also budding and blooming back then.

That got me to wondering if I had a Christmas cactus...

...or an Easter cactus.

It's now sitting in a western exposure window, whereas at Christmastime, it was in the southern exposure dining room window (it had to be moved because the dining room window, with it's screen feeder, became Baby's bird viewing area).

So I decided to do a little on-line research...

... and I was correct. I definitely have a Christmas cactus.

Why it has started blooming again is beyond me, but I'm thrilled because it is so beautiful.

Here is an excellent article showing side-by-side photos and outlining the differences between a Christmas cactus and an Easter cactus, just in case any of you might have the same question.
I'm linking up to Show & Tell Friday at Cindy's My Romantic Home. Be sure to pop over to see what everyone is sharing this week!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I've had Christmas cacti that also bloomed later in the season, Donna. I love the pot yours is in, too! Susan

The pot is so pretty, but I'm jealous you could get your catcus to bloom. I had a Christmas one for a couple of years, but finally tossed it when I couldn't get it to bloom. You're even more lucky that you have gotten to enjoy it's beauty again late in the season.

what a beautiful plant! I used to be surrounded by cacti growing up in a semi-arid location and they bloomed so lovely during a certain time of year. Love the blush pink on yours.

I love the gorgeous pale pink shade of the blooms of your late-blooming Christmas cactus. I also love the planter pot you have it in. Very elegant and chic. Happy Spring!

I had no idea there was such a thing as an Easter cactus. How very cool!

Mine chose not to bloom until March also. I got the plant for 25 cents last year after Christmas and this year it had doubled in size and finally bloomed... but not for Christmas.
