All good things must come to an end...

I knew I wouldn't have to wait too long at the hummingbird feeder this past weekend for somebody to show up. Activity at the feeders has been on the rise as these little beauties get ready to migrate...

I've had several females battling it out for the deck feeder over the past few days. The winner of this particular round celebrated by taking a loooong sip of sugar water...

"Ahhhh, that was good!" (Finally coming up for air...)

And now she's flying off (top right of photo) to preen herself or to catch some insects until her next visit to the feeder.

I'm going to make the most of enjoying them for the next few weeks. They'll continue to visit the feeders into September, but those visits will taper off, eventually stopping completely (except for an occasional straggler who stops by while heading south)...

So all good things must come to an end, but thank goodness it's only temporary until next May, when the yard will be humming again!!! So safe journey to you all, my little feathered friends!

Donna (who is still not ready to say goodbye to summer...)

How exciting to find the hummingbirds at your feeder. We've had 2 feeders out and still no hummingbirds! I found the book "Good dog. Stay" by Anna Quindlen at the library after noticing it on your sidebar. What a lovely book & yes ... I needed the box of kleenex beside me all the way through!
Have a wonderful weekend Donna

Fabulous photos Donna! I love hummingbirds too. We rarely see them here however.

Hard to belive August is almost gone.

Have a happy Labor Day weekend!

I'm going to be sad to see them go also! I've really enjoyed them this year. They've loved the trumpet vine and seemed to really like the hummingbird black salvia I purchased this year. They are so sweet to watch! Have a great holiday.
Hugs, Sherry

My husband will be green with envy when I show him your hummers! You did such a great job of capturing those little darters! Our attempts at enticing those teeny birds have led to limited success. Recently, a sweet little one actually found its way to our feeder and I had my camera near by. Unfortunately, I captured a little birdy blur on my photo, but it served as proof to my husband that one stopped by!

Your recent painting find is just wonderful. Are those birch trees? I don't blame you for grabbing that one!

I really enjoyed your "shadows" photos--I hope you make prints of those!

Thanks again for the MM tunes! ;-)
