Getting ready for Halloween!

For the past two years I'd fully intended to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project and put out a teal pumpkin so trick-or-treaters with food allergies would know that we also have non-food goodies to hand out...

...but I've always forgotten to get the teal pumpkin and non-candy treats - until this year!
I picked up a paper mache pumpkin from A.C. Moore, some "Mermaid Teal" paint and voila!

So from now on it will be our annual Halloween tradition to provide candy as well as some fun little non-food treats for whoever comes knocking on our door!

If you enter your zip code into the following Teal Pumpkin map site, it will let you know of any houses that have registered in your area. And may more homes may also be participating but just don't know that they can register on this site.

Also, early next week I'll be back to host a give-away for a pair of these awesome limited edition earrings (only 50 pairs were created!), designed by my daughter and created by RaHa Jewelry. I bought a pair and love them - they're so lightweight that you don't even know you're wearing them! If you'd like to enter to win a pair, either for yourself of for a very unique gift for someone special (the holiday gift-giving season is almost upon us!), then stop back next week! You can also purchase a pair outright if you just can't wait to see if you win! They're available in Amanda's Etsy Shop:

See you all next week!

Donna- What a great idea to hand out non-food treats! That is fantastic! I love the color you painted that pumpkin.

The earrings are lovely but I don't wear earrings anymore and my daughter does jewlery so I will let someone else have my chance to win them.

I hope you have a great weekend- xo Diana

I wish I could take credit for the non-food treats but I just started hearing about the Teal Pumpkin Project a couple of years ago! It is a great idea!!

I haven't heard of this project. But I haven't had trick or treaters in quite a few years.

As a grandparent of a granddaughter with a peanut allergy, THANKS SO MUCH for participating in the Teal Pumpkin project!! Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated! Each year the numbers grow as the word gets out...

Gayle Ann, thank you for your comment. I couldn't post a response directly to you as it doesn't appear you have a blog. I think this project is going to really catch on as more and more people hear about it. As a matter of fact, there's even an online map where you enter in your zip code and it gives a listing of the houses who are participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project, if they have registered. Here's a link in case you want to enter in your granddaughter's city/zip code:

Donna, thank you for your response. No, I do not have a blog...

I had no idea about the online map. So very sweet of you to include the link!! I'll make sure my daughter gets it. It will be wonderful to be able to register with other families!!

Maybe I'll move the link up to the actual blog post so more people might see it! Thank you, Gayle Ann!

The teal pumpkins are a great idea. When I used to have trick or treaters, I was giving out non-candy gifts and the kids always seemed to like them. Especially the older ones. We just don't have any kids on my block anymore.

Nice to consider those with food allergies. I bet you will have lots of activity at your house.

Good to see you are back to blogging. I am trying to post more often too!!
