Peeping Toms in the Neighborhood...

(click on any photos to enlarge)

It was a dark and stormy day here in New England, full of wind and rain....

I'd just settled down on the sofa after rearranging the family room when, suddenly, I felt as though I was being watched....

My hair stood on end ... I was covered with goosebumps... And that's when I spotted him, peering at me through the open slider doors... (if you look closely at the photo above, you'll see him, too!)

And he wasn't alone... While he crept closer to the door, his friend kept a lookout from the top of the chair... He came closer, and closer, until he was right at the door, and that's when he whispered...

"Oh Mrs. Peanut Lady!! It's only us, your beautiful blue feathered friends!" "Well why didn't you say so, Mr. Blue Jay! Of course I have peanuts for you!!!"

As I headed back to the sofa, that uncomfortable feeling of being watched came rushing back...

Closer and closer he came, until he was literally peering through the door at me!

"Did you forget me?" he asked. "Oh, Sammy, thank goodness it's only you! Of course I didn't! Here are some peanuts for you, too!!!"

Peanuts ... such a small price to pay to be visited by such special friends as these!!

What a cute story. It reminds me of when my sister lived in CO and she would have the blue jays and squirrels come. She would buy big ol' bags of peanuts for them. She had them eating out of her hands. I loved to go sit there and feed them for hours when I would visit.

She would call them in the mornings and they would come right to her. It was so cute.

Hugs,
Joanne

When my son was just a little boy we would buy peanuts in bulk from the grocery store because he would sit on the front steps and feed the squirrels. We had neighbors stop and take pictures of it b/c they couldn't believe it.

The little critters really looked forward to it, too! They started coming up to the front door and scratching. We had dogs--and they weren't afraid--they knew a kid lived there with a bag of nuts!

How incredible! You made my morning with your little "wild" creatures. Sammy looks like he'd just slide the door open and come on in if he could reach the handle of the door!

Ohh, I LOVE Bluejays! We get a bunch of them around here and trust me, they are protective birds. We have a hawk in the neighborhood who attacks the younger birds, but a group of Bluejays will bravely attack the hawk in turn. LOVE the pictures - what a beautiful home you have and adore the nature shots of animals. Are you sure you are Snow White?

Sammy's back!!! Yay!
I would love to live where there were critters :0). On occasion we see an opossum and this past year we had different kinds of birds nesting in our patio awning, but squirrels are a rare sighting these day...maybe because all our trees are in teh process of being removed.(diseased)
BTW, love the livingroom.
Enjoy your day.

First of all, I would love for it to be wet outside... your deck looks so yummy and Autumn! Second, with my two hounds I don't get cute visitors like that :(

Well now, I just love your little critters. I love your decorations too. That little squirrel looks like he is used to getting treats at your door. But where is his costume?
