Vintage Mary Garden Statue
(click on any photos to enlarge)
This is the first time I've participated in Blue Monday...
...and it didn't take me long to decide what to share.
I think this is just about the most beautiful vintage Mary garden statue I've ever seen. The details are amazing, especially if you enlarge the photos...
I was so fortunate to find her at an antique mall this past spring during a 50% off sale. I first posted about her here, back in May.
She currently resides under our cherry tree, watching over our backyard garden and all the little birds and furry creatures who visit us.
I recently fashioned an "autumn leaves" wreath for her head and, as you can see, the sun was creating the most luminous glow when I photographed her.
Be sure to stop by Sally's blog, Smiling Sally, to find a list of all the other Blue Monday postings!

Greetings from the eastern part of Finland! Our trees are already naked.
What an enchanting blue on the statue of Mary! She must look so lovely in your garden! And your wreath on her head is a delightful extra touch!
Welcome to your 1st Blue Monday; I hope you come often. I can see why you would choose to share this statue to share. The fall wreath is a clever idea too. Enjoy visiting the other Blue Monday folks today.
I love The Beatles, the perfect song to go with Mary. I love the crackled paint! Happy Blue Monday!

Your statue is so, so beautiful! I can see why you love her so much. What a great idea to make her a wreath of leaves for her head. I am going to pass this along to my daughter Anne. She has a statue similar to yours. Peace to you on this lovely Blue Monday morning!
Your statue of the Blessed Mother is so very special. It looks like one that we had in church many years ago.

Welcome to Blue Monday. This is a great statue of Mary. Perfect choice for your first Blue Monday Post.
Your statue is very beautiful. I have never seen one like that either. Her autumn wreath is perfect too. It was so appropriate to have Let It Be playing as I looked at your pictures.
Thank you for a sharing.

The statue of Mary is so beautiful and I love how she's watching over the garden. Thanks for sharing!
I love the color blue so I will join in Blue Monday, too, someday soon!
This statue of the Blessed Mother is so beautful -- her face looks so serene.
Many Italian - Americans place a statue of Mary in their front gardens. My husband's Mom had a statue of St. Anthony in hers, however.
My next post will be about your wonderful give away!
Stumbled across your beautiful blog from a link on another...? Can't remember who, I've been surfing around quite a bit this evening. But just had to say hello and compliment your gorgeous yard! I feel very 'Fall' right now. Time for a slice of pumpkin pie...
Hi Donna,
The weathered statue of Mary you purchased is wonderful. Perfect spot you found and your photographs are so great with the light streaming in.
Thanks for your prayers for my dad, everything went well.
Beautiful! Happy Halloween!
Hi, I posted a comment today on a different post, about your porcelain Mary collection, then I became a follower and now see that you have a Mary garden too, like me. I mentioned on my earlier comment that I have a Mary garden. Your Mary is lovely.
Ah, she's a pretty one. How big is she? I have only one outside Mary, a cement statue, roughly 40", the birds sit on her head. I would like to find a painted version.
Yours looks like even just one winter outside would take off all that paint, but it would be easy to paint her again in a way that would look just as rustic...though you probably will move her indoors for the winter? I have seen some French decor blogs where they have the large religious statues, even the unpainted cement ones, IN the house. They look very cool. But I already have about 20 Blessed Mother statues in my home. Not sure I could find room for more at this time!
